Hello there
I'm Maddy
Raised in the PNW by a designer-dad, I grew up surrounded by art and culture. Encouraged to be wildly independent and curious, I explored anything and everything that interested me. From photography and acting to roller derby and true crime, I was not only never afraid to explore something new but I believed the world to be my oyster.
When I went to college, I originally wanted to study Forensic Psychology and work as a profiler. I quickly discovered that design was what I wanted to move forward with in my life. I joined several on-campus publications and agencies working as an artist and designer. From the OR digital magazine to the campus newspaper and then to my more proud accomplishment, Allen Hall Advertising, I was welcomed to a community of budding professionals.
I graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.A. in Journalism and Communication with a concentration in Advertising and a minor in Digital Arts. Before even finishing my degree, I moved up to Seattle for an Art Direction internship with Wunderman Thompson’s Seattle office. It was there that I gained a love for the complexities of being a designer, working with large-scale clients such as T-Mobile, Microsoft, and International Hotels Group.
When COVID hit in 2020, I was unexpectedly launched into the next, unexpected, venture in my career. After applying to an inordinate amount of positions, I landed a Designer role working for Activision’s Digital Marketing team for Call of Duty. Not being a gamer myself, this was an opportunity that scared yet excited me. Working very independently for one of the largest gaming franchises in the world taught me lessons and skills that I don’t think I would’ve had the chance to learn otherwise.
After an educational and self-affirming experience with Call of Duty, I concluded it was my time to explore the next thing for both my professional and personal development. And that’s where I am now! I am currently working as Graphic Designer for SGK Inc.’s Portland studio, working with some of the most creative and encouraging people I’ve yet to meet. Having the opportunity to create experiential creative experiences for everything from the Super Bowl to influencer seeding kits has welcomed me to a creative and educational experience unlike any other.
